Puducherry, Jan 26 (PTI) The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) today launched relief work in cyclone affected parts of the Union Territory.

The Federation of Fishermen Village Panchayats in the union territory today announced a series of agitations, including hoisting of black flags on the Republic Day, demanding adequate relief to cyclone Thane hit areas.

CUDDALORE: A new racket has emerged in Thane-hit areas as reports are emerging of healthy trees being cut down and sold by groups, under the pretence of cleaning debris after the cyclone.

NEW DELHI (AlertNet) - It could take "years" for hundreds of thousands of people in southeastern India to rebuild their livelihoods after a devastating cyclone wiped out their entire plantations of cash crops last month, aid workers warned on Tuesday.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa reviewed the relief measures being carried out for the cyclone 'Thane' hit people in the districts of Cuddalore and Villupuram at a high level meeting today.

Chandramohan, a government employee based in Puducherry in his complaint with Kadampuliyur Police, claimed his farm house built on five cents of land in Vegakollai village in Panruti taluk had "gone missing" and wanted the police to "find it."

Chennai, Jan 22 (PTI): Symbiotic coordination between the Coast Guard, Tamil Nadu government and fishermen during cyclone Thane was the reason why there were no casualties among fishermen at sea, a top Coast Guard official said today.

PUDUCHERRY: The government suffered a loss of revenue after trees, which fell during cyclone Thane,being kept for auction at the old port were destroyed in a fire on Saturday evening.
