Overview of the region

Nagapattinam is one of the oldest port cities of the Chola empire and was called Naval Pattinam, the city of ships. This town was under Portuguese, Dutch and the British rule during colonial times. It lies on the eastern seaboard of India, 350 kilometers south of Chennai, in Latitude 10.7906 degrees North and Longitude 79.8428 degrees East.

Governance

BEDROC is registered as a Trust under the Indian Trust Act. The three trustees—two alumni of the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA), and an alumnus of IIT Delhi—have over 70 person-years of development experience between them.

Team

BEDROC has a capable and dedicated team of professionals headed by the CEO, Ms. Annie George. The BEDROC team maintains close ties with its primary constituencies: communities, NGOs, CBOs, local government, traditional panchayats and local self-government institutions.

BEDROC’s core team is carried over from the NCRC, ensuring the organizational memory is intact; basic tenets and ideology are not diluted and there is a seamless transition from an organization focusing on disaster response to disaster resilience.
