Monsoon strong, Mettur Dam downs shutters

Oct 23, 2013 SALEM/ CHENNAI/ THANJAVUR: It's early days, but the northeast monsoon is shaping up well. With rainfall well spread across the state, especially in the catchment areas of the Mettur Dam and the Cauvery delta, the PWD downed the Mettur dam shutters on Tuesday. The temporary closure is likely to extend for a week, a senior PWD official said.
